December 28, 2015

China's online retail value is expected to top the rest of the world by reaching four trillion RMB (US$616.3 billion; US$1=6.49 RMB) this year, said the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China, according to China News Service on December 27. The country's total retail sales of consumer goods are expected to reach 30 trillion RMB (US$4.6 trillion) in 2015 with consumption contributing to about 60% of its GDP (Gross Domestic Product) growth. China has accomplished major targets outlined by the 12th Five-Year Plan by the end of this year to become a giant trader, as its exports of goods grew at a CAGR (Compound Annual Growth Rate) of 6.5% over the past five years and its global market share rose form 10.4% in 2010 to 13.2% in 2015, said the Ministry.
